Forest Trekkers offers children opportunities to participate in a play based, emergent forest school program. The children are given the freedom to learn through exploration of their natural environment, gaining their greatest lessons from the forest itself. As they discover their natural world, they are provided with all of the tools and materials that they require to learn, grow and build. The forest school model provides a chance for children to engage in collaborative projects and build skills in literacy, numeracy and science. Children are guided towards environmental stewardship and placed-based, seasonal exploration.
A forest school education is excellent compliment to a child’s journey of learning
Our full-day Forest Trekkers program is available for children ages 6-12 years old. Children will spend nearly their entire day in the outdoors with the indoor space available to them during inclement weather, for lunch in the winter, and for washroom use. This program offers forest school education with the intention of enriching a child’s homeschool curriculum or as an adjunct to their education beyond kindergarten age. Attending forest school one day weekly can complement their academic education by building social interaction skills, problem-solving skills, creating rich experiential education opportunities.
